Kinja'd!!!

We have a contract with an Alabama based company called SCA Performance that takes Silverado’s (along with Ram’s, F-150's, Jeep’s, and more) and builds them to be Quite Large. We’ve had a contract with SCA for allegedly quite a few years, I have no idea, to sell their Quite Large trucks. I think they are Quite Large.

They tend to be popular, as well, perhaps due to the fact they’re still covered by full factory warranty and also because they are Quite Large, which makes it easier to obstruct and block the view of the road ahead for other motorists.

SCA’s top of the line lift package for the 2019 Silverado is called the Black Widow, but it isn’t as poisonous and I don’t think it will kill you either. With the Black Widow package, you get a six inch lift, 35 inch BFG AT KO2 tires with 20 inch custom wheels attached, a country boy enticing upgraded exhaust, custom black widow stitched headrests that look...ok, and perhaps more, I can only read the spec sheet for so long before my attention span snaps.

Kinja'd!!!

This white truck is our first unit in and it will either sell tomorrow or it will sit around for eight months. The new Silverado’s are very much a love it or hate it truck, and with this example being Quite Large, it could only widen the divide. I haven’t driven the ‘19 Black Widow, but I did drive a previous body style example and I can absolutely assure the audience that lifted trucks are surely not my particular cup of tea.

On a side note, we also have a 2018 Jeep Trackhawk, 2016 Volvo XC90 T6 Momentum (love it, wish it was an Inscription), a 2018 F150 Raptor, and a 2017 Tacoma TRD Pro in on the used side and all of them need to come home with me, thanks.

My boss was looking at a Black Widow edition GMC recently, but opted for an ‘18 Silverado that the dealership apparently used as a courtesy loaner.  If I’m honest, I think his ‘18 is the better decision.

For goodness sakes, the bonnet is nearly as high as the roof of the BMW X5.

Why!? Why does a truck need to be that large?

That’s prob $10k - $20k worth of added cost. Good if you’re the one selling it, bad if you’re the one buying it.

The lift kit is prob some rubbish combo of spacers as well.

In my studies of American society I have begun to chart the relationship between personal vehicle height and other sizes;

Kinja'd!!!

As we can tell, other sizes decrease dramatically once the brodozer cliff is reached.

Interesting; a local landscaper I know drives a silver Black Widow Silverado, diesel of course. I wondered if it was a Chevy thing or some aftermarket thing but never looked it up. It’s... big.

I wonder if he ever tows his landscape equipment with it, or just drives it to his shop and then uses the work trucks.

Bruh and Brah would both require significantly more LED lights.

Other available options include Brosephious, Bro Namath, Brosepher, Brodinsky, and Brofasaurus.

More like 5-7,5k. And then upcharged 20k.

I remember looking at this company when I was helping someone shop for a truck. I was pushing really hard for the Raptor, but he got an F250 instead. As a daily driver.

There is a Rocky Ridge Silverado at one of the local dealers, and it they somehow made it less awful. The lack or chrome and the bumper bar(nothing looks good with a bumper bar, that’s how bad Chevy screwed it up) make it look slightly less eye searing.

They could’ve gone a lot more bro. This is like the dentist on a Harley, they want that slightly bad boy image but they can’t go too far because they are still a dentist.

The Raptor is basically the modern sport sedan with a bed, fast and practical for the family. The F250 is like daily driving a Ferrari that seats 5, often to big to take everywhere, rough riding as a daily driver, and most people you drive past in the city think you’re an ass with more money than sense.

He finally towed a boat with it recently. My 4runner would not tow this boat but I bet that thing had no problems. I would really love a Raptor but a truck that big makes no sense for a single person.

The full spec sheet, for anyone interested, is here: https://www.scaperformance.com/chevy-black-widow

There’s no mention of what the “SCA Suspension Lift System” actually includes, though. From the picture and video below , we can get some clues:

Kinja'd!!!

I see:

Longer shocks, obviously.

Giant spacer blocks/towers on the rear axle that look kinda sketchy.

A big front subframe assembly that looks kinda solid.

The video shows that they seem to be fairly serious about what they’re doing, although they do show their techs tightening wheel nuts with air guns.. . Also, I would never let anyone “detail” my brand new truck like this (see 5:55 in the video) :

I prefer that as well, plus that truck will be quite a bit cheaper than ours as it’s 5.3 RST based instead of the 6.2 LTZ.

100% uses it just to get to the shop and then uses his work trucks. They’re all tax write offs anyway

That is for sure the better option, a never titled vehicle with 4,000 miles for up to $20,000 off in some cases is always a good deal. Last week we had a loaner ‘18 LT with leather and a few other goodies go out the door for $32k and change, just as an example.

After they sit on our lot for a while they can be discounted quite heavily, sometimes down to lower than the truck’s MSRP.

They do their work properly, as they have to be manufacturer approved and need to conform to warranty stuff, but yes it is nothing sophisticated. I didn’t go into detail because I frankly don’t super care, but I will say they don’t feel sketchy to drive. Instead, it just feels like a Silverado with a worse turning circle.

This is our regular lot.
